| The Lazio region |
Lazio, birthplace of two of mankind’s greatest institutions, the Roman Empire and the Catholic Church, is dominated and largely defined by its capital, Rome. Since ancient Roman times the region has been an extension of the city, where noble Roman families created their own towns and the wealthy built their villas in the surrounding countryside. Lazio is a treasure trove of the remains of age old civilizations: bridges, churches, towers, villas, monasteries, aqueducts, arches — the list is endless. To the north of Rome are Etruscan sites and the tombs of Tarquinia, founded in the 12th century BC. The ruins of Ostia Antica, a 4th century BC port city at the mouth of the Tiber are located west of the city, with delightful beaches nearby. East of Rome toward the mountains is Tivoli, a favorite retreat for the wealthy at the height of the Roman Empire. Visit the remains of Hadrian’s Villa, completed in 134 AD, and the beautiful fountains and gardens of the Villa d’Este.
Lazio was once the richest part of Italy and the remains of the tombs and carvings of the great Etruscan civilisation are magnificent works of art. It could take a lifetime to peel away the layers of history in Rome, the eternal city. Visitors can explore the Palatine, with its temples and monuments, and the Forum, the centre of ancient Rome. The Colosseum looms over the city, remaining the symbol of Rome.
|
| Rome area |
In Rome you can visit any kind of tourist actractions, but probably Rome is mostly visited for its history and symbols of the eternal city.
Also the night life is very intense.
On the contrary, the area where there is Nathan's House is very calm and relaxing, but it has the big advantage to be inside the G.R.A. and it is also well connected to the very heart of Rome. The bus stop 889 is just in front of the building, and from the close Underground Stations of Battistini and Cornelia you can get to Piazza di Spagna in less than 15 minutes.
The Boccea area has many shops (most of them very cheap), pizzerias and some restaurants.
So Nathan's House is the best compromise between a busy day walking around the city, and the relaxing evening at the end of the day.

| How to get there |
| Nearest Travel Links |
| Airport: | Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino Airport) 20 |
| Railway: | Termini Train Station 7 |
| Ferry: | Civitavecchia 40 |
Rome has 2 International Airports, “Leonardo da Vinci” (better known as Fiumicino Airport) and Ciampino Airport (where low cost flight arrive).
If you are going to arrive at “Leonardo da Vinci” Airport, you have to take the shuttle train to get to “Termini Train Station”, the main train station in Rome.
In the other case, if you are going to arrive at Ciampino Airport, you have to take the shuttle bus to get to “Termini Train Station”. (A cheaper option from Ciampino Airport is to get the Bus to Anagnina Underground Station and then get the Undergroune Line A till CORNELIA Station).
In both cases, from “Termini Train Station” you have to take the Underground (Line A – RED) in direction Battistini.
When you are in Cornelia Underground Station, you have to exit to ground level (using the lift is advisable), cross the street and take Bus 889 in direction Val Cannuta, and step down at Divina Provvidenza Bus Stop.
You have arrived! Nathan’s House is in front of you!
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have a lot of luggage with you, we can advice you to take a taxi from the Airport to Nathan’s House (it should not cost more than 40 Euro if there is NOT too much traffic). That’s because if you are too busy to take care of your luggage, the pickpockets could easily take the chance to rob you when you are in crowded places.
HOW TO GET THE FLAT BY CAR
Arriving in Rome from any direction, you enter the G.R.A. (Roman Highway Ring). Following the direction “Fiumicino Airport” or “Civitavecchia” drive along the G.R.A. till when you get to exit nr. 1 (AURELIA). Then you have to leave the G.R.A. and take exit 1 in direction AURELIO (Vatican City/Center). At the second traffic lights, turn left following the queue of cars (it is a quite narrow one way street), at the junction turn left again, then turn right (compulsory) and as soon as possible do a U-turn. Then, after about 50 mt., turn right in via Luca Passi. Driving along via Passi, when you see a glass building on your left hand side and a pharmacy on your right hand side, leave the roundabout and take via Vezio Crisafulli. Drive along via Crisafulli and turn left in via Giuseppe Bettiol.
You have arrived! Nathan’s House is at the end of via Bettiol, on the right hand side.
In this case, please do not forget that Nathan’s House has a private garage where you could leave freely your car (headroom 1.7 mt.) during your staying in the flat.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICES
If you are going to stay in Rome more days and you are planning to use public transport service a lot, we can advice you to buy weekly tickets which would allow you to travel freely all around Rome with both busses and Underground (the Italian name is METRO). You can usually buy weekly tickets at any Underground station (at the Metro Desk or at the automatic machines).
If you do not think this option is convenient for you, you can also buy daily tickets or 4-days tickets. As said for the weekly tickets, all of them allow you to use both busses and Underground.
The last alternative is the B.I.T. (single ticket). It allows you to use both busses and Underground (Underground just once!!) and it lasts only 75 minutes from the moment in which you obliterate it in the specific yellow machines on busses and at the Underground Station gates.
In any case, independently if you are going to chose weekly/4-days/daily tickets, if you do not have them with you and if you are not already at any Underground Station, you have to get first a B.I.T. which would allow you to get to the closer Underground station when you can buy the more convenient tickets.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Most of the times NO ticket is sold on board!!! Be aware of that. Sometime the drivers have some tickets with them, but it is not their duty. If they have tickets and they accept to sell them to you, it is just to help you!! The cost of a B.I.T. (single ticket) is 1 Euro.
- When you travel with public transport services or you are moving in crowded places, please take care of your wallet/purse and your important personal effects. The pickpockets are so skilful to rob people that you could realize the bad event only when it is too late!!
HOW TO GET TO THE HISTORIC CENTER FROM NATHAN’S HOUSE
From via Val Cannuta you can take Bus 889 to Cornelia Bus Stop, and then the Underground (Line A – RED) in direction Anagnina.
If you do not love the Underground, very close to Cornelia Bus Stop you have the chance to take many Busses which could take you almost anywhere around the city.
In alternative, you could also take Bus 546 (the Bus Stop is close to the pharmacy) in direction Battistini, and then take the Underground (Battistini is the last stop, so the only possible direction is Anagnina).
From Cornelia or Battistini Underground Stations, you will need about 13 minutes to get to real historic center (Spagna, for example).
HOW TO GET NATHAN’S HOUSE FROM THE HISTORIC CENTER
From any Underground Station along Line A (RED) – direction Battistini – you can take the train to:
- Cornelia, and then Bus 889 to Val Cannuta Street (Divina Provvidenza Bus Stop);
- Battistini (Last Stop), and then Bus 546 to Val Cannuta Street (via Passi/Crisafulli Bus Stop).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Bus lines 889 and 546 do not work on holidays

HOW TO BOOK?
After having checked the on-line “provisional availability” of Nathan’s House in the chosen week, your information request will be followed by our email which will give you positive or negative confirmation regarding the availability in the chosen period. If the flat is available in that period, we will communicate you the total price for the tenancy. In the same email we will communicate you the details of the bank account in which you will have to transfer the 50% of the total price to be able to “fix the booking”. After having transferred the money, you will have to send through fax a copy of the transfer order to Nathan’s House Management (fax +30.211.7004472). The booking will be considered “confirmed” only when Nathan’s House Management receives a copy of the transfer order. At this point Nathan’s House Management will send you a confirmation email with all your booking details. The balance must be paid by cash at your arrival at Nathan’s House.
For those who accept to pay the whole amount in one instalment through bank transfer, a discount is applied.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE BOOKING IS CANCELLED?
1. If the booking is cancelled - through email – at least 30 days before the beginning of the booked tenancy, the amount of money already transferred (that is the 50% of the total price) is not lost. You will be given the chance to postpone your holidays - without any penalty – in a future period, and so the amount of money already paid will be used as down payment for the total price connected with the new booked tenancy. This service is free of charge the first time, but if also the second booking is postponed (the rule of at least 30 days earlier is always valid), a penalty of 50 Euro will be charged.
2. If the booking is cancelled – always through email – between the 29th and the 15th day before the beginning of the booked tenancy, you will be given the chance to postpone your holidays in a future period, but this time a penalty of the 50% of the amount of money already paid will be charged. Then, you will have to order a new bank transfer to integrate the down payment and get it again to the 50% of the total price for the new booking final price; only in this way we can confirm you the new booking.
3. In the end, if the booking is cancelled – always through email – later than the 15th day before the beginning of the booked tenancy, the amount of money already paid will not be refunded and could not be used as down payment for future bookings.
